Three Guidelines to Follow When Choosing a Tipper Trailer

A tipper trailer is one of the most important pieces of equipment you will need for your building and construction project. It comes in handy when you are excavating, and you need to move the soil from one place to another. It is also one of the most convenient ways to transport building materials from the supplier to the construction site. If you are in the market for a new truck, you need to do everything possible to ensure that you get the best value for your money. Here are some of the guidelines which you must follow when picking the right tipper trailer.

Check the overhead clearance

Everyone wants their construction project to run as efficiently as possible. In the process, you might find yourself tempted to get the largest tipper in the market. Unfortunately, some will have a higher overhead clearance than you'll need. When delivering materials to a construction site, you have to worry about electrical wires, branches, and other overhead obstructions. Note that the trailer rises even higher when tipping, and excess height can increase safety hazards.

Check the axles

Try and find a tipper that has dual axles. Dual axles offer an added balance to the tipper, which will be very useful when hauling bulky loads. It is not uncommon for gravel or other heavy construction equipment to shift from the front to the back of the trailer. When this happens, and the truck does not have a dual axle, the possibility of the vehicle tipping over is higher. Dual axles ensure that the load is evenly balanced throughout the haul.

Check the ground clearing

If you are operating the trailer on level ground, you do not have to worry about the ground clearance on your tipper trailer. However, if your project is in a place with lots of unpaved roads, you will need a truck with good clearance. Select a truck with a few centimetres of ground clearance because it will protect the axles, tie rods and all other parts that are normally close to the ground when the truck moves. Another way to get a tipper with maximum clearance is picking one whose trailer bed is in line with the tyres and not lower than the axles.

The easy way to deal with tipper trailers is getting an expert to walk you through the selection process. Take time and check out the best brands, compare the features before settling on a model. Your project will run efficiently when you perform your due diligence when buying the truck.
